North Butler Elementary at Greene named Blue Ribbon School

Congratulations to North Butler Elementary at Greene for being named one of Iowa’s 2011 National Blue Ribbon Schools. In all, seven Iowa schools are among 304 schools nationwide identified for their overall academic excellence or for their success in closing achievement gaps. Along with North Butler Elementary at Greene, the other schools chosen include:

  • Anita Elementary School
  • Decorah High School
  • St. Columbkille Elementary School in Dubuque
  • Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic School in Davenport
  • MOC-Floyd Valley High School in Orange City
  • Washington Elementary School in Muscatine

The U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students achieve at high levels or where the achievement gap is narrowing. Since 1982, more than 6,500 of America’s schools have received this coveted award.
