Area Education Agency 267 (AEA 267) is pleased to announce that David Nicholson, currently Executive Director of Finance/Board Secretary/Treasurer with Linn-Mar Community School District, has been selected as the agency’s next Chief Financial Officer. Nicholson will succeed Dennis Scudder, who has been with the Area Education Agency system since its inception.
“I feel privileged to have been able to make a difference in the lives of students through positions I have held over the past several years,” said Nicholson. “Given the number of students AEA 267 serves, this position will allow me to make an even bigger impact.”
In his new position, Nicholson will direct and oversee a $45 million organizational budget, which funds special education and school improvement services, along with technology support for over 65,000 students and 5,000 educators throughout 18 counties of north central and northeastern Iowa. He will also serve as a resource for local superintendents in establishing and maintaining local school district budgets.
“We feel Dave is a great match for our organization,” said Dr. Anne Sullivan, AEA 267 Assistant Chief Administrator/Director of Human Resources. “He has had several key experiences throughout his career that will serve both the agency and the local school districts in our area well.”
Nicholson has had experiences as an auditor, as well as a business manager of both medium and large school districts. Prior to serving at Linn-Mar, he was the business manager at Chariton Community School District. He is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting.
