Belinda Blackburn, AEA 267 School Social Worker

Belinda Blackburn, AEA 267 School Social Worker has been awarded the Leahgreta Spears Career Achievement Award. This award recognizes an Iowa School Social Worker who has demonstrated leadership, made significant contributions in school social work, and has had consistent levels of commitment and patterns of accomplishments throughout his or her career.

Belinda was nominated by Dawn Jaeger, a fellow AEA 267 School Social Worker who, in her nomination wrote, “I have known and worked with Belinda for fifteen years and have always found her dependable, ethical, approachable, inspirational, positive, practical, and unfailingly loyal. Belinda projects a warm, cheerful attitude to students, teachers, administrators and colleagues and can handle difficult situations with remarkable patience and admirable tact.”

Belinda received her award at the 2014 Iowa School Social Workers’ Association Annual Conference on November 7th along with Joel Larsen, a bus driver at North Tama CSD.  Joel received the “Friend of Children” award for his outstanding commitment to helping children by creating a positive climate on the bus and setting students up for success.
