The Iowa Foster & Adoptive Parents Association (IFAPA), The Access for Special Kids Resource Center (ASK), Iowa Dept. of Education and Iowa Dept. of Human Services are sponsoring free transition conferences for parents, youth and educators interested in planning for life after high school. Participants will learn about the transition process, the unique resources available for transition-age students, and how to prepare for work as an adult. Registration is free and breakfast and lunch will be provided along with a $25 travel stipend per family.
The first conference will be held on Saturday, May 2, 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. Content will include transition along with other topics that may interest parents. AEA 267 is offering reimbursement for hotel and fuel costs for this conference for up to eight families who wish to attend. The $25 travel stipend is available for those not seeking reimbursement from AEA 267. Registration for the Des Moines conference can be done online at the ASK Resource Center or by calling 515-243-1713.
