Area Education Agency 267 is proud to announce the winners of the ABC (Above and Beyond the Call of the Paraeducator Profession) Paraeducator Award. The AEA 267 Paraeducator Advisory Team chooses two paraeducators annually to receive the award, which gives the chance to highlight the incredible service that paraeducators provide to our schools and our students. This year’s winners are Rose Bowser and Mark Stuenkel, both from the Waterloo Community School District.
Rose Bowser works as a paraeducator with preschoolers at Elk Run Early Childhood Center in Waterloo. Nominated by fellow staff members, Janet Everts and Laura Becker, they had this to say of her: “Rose is a great role model for our students and staff. She sustains positive and professional relationships with our students’ families and staff members. She is prepared, organized and ready to share her talents with everyone.”
Mark Stuenkel is a paraeducator at Lou Henry Elementary in Waterloo. Taylor Hopkins, Jessica Bergman and Tara Thomas nominated Mark for the award saying: “Mark strives to find solutions to problems that he sees students struggling with. He then shares these ideas with other paraeducators and teachers to find a solution. He works as a team member for the betterment of the students. Mark believes developing relationships with the students is the foundation for where learning begins.”
AEA 267’s Paraeducator Advisory Team wishes to express sincere appreciation and gratitude for the dedication and compassion all paraeducators bring to their profession. Join us in congratulating Rose and Mark for the positive impact they are making every day in the lives of students!
