AEA 267 school psychologists help students “Connect the Dots” so that they can achieve

The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) has designated November 9–13, 2015 as National School Psychology Awareness Week. This year’s theme, “Connect the Dots and THRIVE!” highlights the importance of connecting students to the academic and social-emotional skills they need to promote personal achievement, growth, and resilience, as well as a sense of belonging and well-being.

Area Education Agency 267 employs 38 school psychologists who serve students in school districts across 18 counties of Iowa. These school psychologists help connect the dots by collaborating with educators to support students’ growth and development, assess student learning, support schools with the implementation of various initiatives, support the development of individualized education programs for students with disabilities, help develop and support the implementation of behavior intervention plans to support students’ development and use of positive behaviors, and provide schools with information and support to help our neediest students.
