New resources available to support students with dyslexia

Iowa’s Area Education Agencies in partnership with the Iowa Department of Education have created Iowa Dyslexia Resources, a website designed to help families and educators learn more about dyslexia. Reading difficulties, including dyslexia can have a mild, moderate, or severe impact on learning; however, with appropriate instruction almost all can learn to read.

This new Iowa resource will help families understand what some possible indicators of dyslexia are, how they can provide support to their children, and provides local AEA contact information for parents to receive additional information. Educators will find an overview on dyslexia, along with the best practices to identify, remediate and support students who have reading difficulties, including dyslexia.

By working together, students who are not on target with their reading can be identified and provided the support needed to ensure their success.

For more information on dyslexia, contact Judy Moser, AEA 267 Regional Administrator or Kim Swartz, AEA 267 Regional Administrator.
